Description
A charming mid-century tin church ornament with a gold-tone finish and hand-painted red and green details. The piece features open windows and an open base designed to rest over a tree light so the little church glows from within — a delightful effect on a vintage Christmas tree.
This miniature church measures about 2½ inches tall and 2 inches wide. Some wear to the back of the roof where the brass color has thinned, along with light age patina, but overall the ornament still displays beautifully.
Unmarked, but the construction, paint style, and design strongly suggest 1950s–1960s Japan. A wonderful example of post-war Japanese holiday craftsmanship and a lovely addition to any vintage Christmas collection.
Condition
Pre-owned vintage condition with light wear from age and display. Some loss of brass color and minor oxidation on the back of the roof, as shown. Paint remains bright with good color and detail overall. No dents or structural damage. Clean and ready for display.
