Description
Vintage 1983 Kotton Kandy Kid Thumb-Sucker Doll by Smile International Inc. This approximately 18-inch doll features a vinyl face, soft cloth body with cloth hands and feet, light brown yarn hair, an orange nose, freckles, and an open mouth designed for the thumb-sucking feature.
He wears a colorful striped shirt with soft light-blue overalls and white fabric booties. The soft cloth hands have individually stitched finger details, and the cloth feet have stitched toes.
The original pink Kotton Kandy Kid paper hangtag is still attached. The reverse identifies the line as “Kotton Kandy Thumb-Sucker Dolls” and is copyright dated 1983 Smile International Inc., Brooklyn, N.Y. The sewn-in label reads “From The World of Smile” and is also copyright dated 1983. An additional manufacturer’s label identifies the filling as synthetic fiber and states Made in Korea.
The cloth hands and feet are an especially interesting feature of this example and are shown clearly in the photos.
